Many of the ancient traditions talk about developing our other senses, aside from our basic five that ground us in this physical plane: sight, sound, smell, taste, touch. One of those other senses is our intuition - closely associated with our Third Eye Chakra. That point between our brows. If you have listened to enough guided meditations, you will have heard the term as well.
One of the tools I use regularly to help me in my practice is my Third Eye Balm. Comprised of several flowers and herbs extracted into organic Virgin Coconut oil, it helps open up the third eye so we may see beyond the ordinary, the everyday life.
Blue Lotus has been found extensively in Egyptian Art, having a calming and yet euphoric effect on the pineal gland. It is also thought to enhance, prolong and deepen a meditative state. Always a bonus when our minds seem to always be busy.
If used before going to bed, it is said to enhance lucid dreaming. Not technically a lotus flower, but rather belonging to the water lily family, it has a deep connection to sacred practices all over the world.
Pink Lotus has been considered holy and sacred, especially in Hinduism. It is said to enhance non-attachment and represents beauty. It is rather delicate, more so than the other lotus flowers. Reminding us of our oneness with the Sacred and the Divine.
Celastrus Seed is also known as the Elixir of Life, promoting clarity and a sharp mind, enhancing memory function and prolonging longevity. It is especially celebrated in the Ayurvedic tradition. Its positive effects can be noticed during waking hours as well as enhance dream recall and dream recollection.
Caution must be taken with these plant substances if you are pregnant, lactating, suffer from cardiovascular disease or take prescription drugs. While the herbs are not taken internally, they still have an effect on your body and mind! Please consult with your medical practitioner.
Holy Basil, also known as Tulsi, is considered one of the most holy plants. Every part can be used. It is revered in the Ayurvedic and Hindu tradition for its ability to enhance lucid dreaming, deepening the meditative state, enhancing one's creativity, vision and insight.
Helichrysum, also known as Immortelle or Herb of Immortality, may be known to you from its other uses, mainly wound healing and skin care due to its anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties. It is one of the herbs I use frequently in many of my preparations due to its ability to facility deep and profound healing. It is known to enhance lucid dreaming and dream recall.
Mugwort has been used especially in the Pagan tradition especially for clearing energy through smudging, but it can also be used as a tea, tincture or incense for enhancing your dreams and enhance lucid dreaming. It can also help us connect with our shadow side so we can work and engage on a deeper level and evolve into a higher vibration.
Rosehips are a lesser known ingredient. The ripe round fruit is a symbol of fertility and wealth. It is also used to prevent nightmares and darker dreams. In Pagan tradition, it is associated with the Goddess Venus and love. The wild rose is also known as a hedge plant, dividing the worlds and its use can help US to travel between them while we meditate or sleep.
As you can see, one jar is packed with an amazing array of ingredients to assist you in accessing the higher realms.
Dab a bit of it on your third eye chakra and begin your travels.
