Roses not just for the heart

The base for my recent line of products "Radiance" is olive oil infused with rose petals and Calendula flowers. While most of us know of Calendula's affinity for skin, Rose is not as well known. So here are some fun facts:

We can use several parts of the rose for their medicinal properties: the flower petals, the fruit called rosehips and even the leaves.

The energetic quality of rose is cooling. Both the petals and leaves have astringent qualities, meaning they tone and tighten the tissue and can lessen excess secretion.

Rose has also been shown effective for the healing of cancer sores due to its anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties.

So now that you know a bit more about rose petals, try one of my body butters or healing salves. I particularly love the body butter on my face. The rich olive oil base is especially soothing at this time when our skin has been exposed to dry indoor air and the cold and drying qualities of winter.

Later in the year I will offer a lighter version with grapeseed oil and rosewater. But now, your skin needs some extra nourishment. So show it some love.

Decadent Body Butter, I love it especially on the delicate skin around my eyes.
